In the well-known Black's Law Dictionary the definition of justice is to render every man his due.The purpose of courts, therefore, is to establish justice to the people. The judge gets at the facts, the truth is learned and a righteous verdict is given.
Under a system that truly serves justice, everyone is equal under the law. This is only possible when the rule of law and justice is based on truth. Where is truth found? The Holy Bible gives us the answer, in John 17:17 we read, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." The only truth in this world is found in the Holy Bible. Who, for example, can argue with the goodness and soundness of the 10 Commandments? Who in their right mind can say that if a people obeyed the 10 Commandment they would not have a better society? Experience and history affirms this: when a people and a government hold to the principles of the Holy Bible justice prevails. When they don't, injustice, tyranny and destruction are the rule. This was obvious in France before and after the French Revolution, in Russia before and after the Marxist Bolshevik Revolution, and is obvious today in America.
Truth brings about justice and justice brings about equity, peace, and trust. There is respect and dignity for each person because there is an understanding that, as the Holy Bible declares, "the rich and the poor have this in common, the Lord is the maker of them all". There is respect for the rule of law because it is based on the truth of the perfect Word of GOD. Because of this, it can be trusted.
Today, in America, in the halls of justice, truth in many instances has been replaced with lies and falsehood. And as a result justice has been replaced by injustice. Equity has been replaced by favoritism. Peace has been replaced by unprecedented violence and crime. Trust has been replaced by suspicion and scorn. Why? Because of the abandonment of Biblical principle in rendering justice - which in previous generations was America's guiding force.
The OJ Simpson murder trial, the Bill Clinton Senate Impeachment trial, class action suits that hold individuals not accountable for their actions, thousands of juries disregarding evidence because of racial or political motives and acquitting a defendant who is guilty - are clear evidence of the trampling of American justice. When the guilty go free, it is the innocent who are punished. One of the most disgusting, yet telling, examples of American justice at the turn of the new century is the legality of abortion. The most defenseless thing in the world is a little baby in his mother's womb, yet our so-called justice system has ruled that it is "just" and therefore legal to kill these babies. Is this bloody practice that has killed so many millions of human beings, true justice? It is in truth, representative of a detestable, cruel justice system where there is no respect of life, no compassion, no love of fellow man, no love of GOD , no respect of GOD's commands, no fear that GOD is just or no real belief of a future state of rewards and punishments after this life.
Without the principles of the Holy Bible guiding justice, oaths mean nothing, truth means nothing, and justice means nothing. Bribes, financial and political gain, mean everything! According to the Holy Bible false testimony deprives the innocent of justice. In Isaiah 29:20 we read "...those who with a word make a man out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice."
There is a direct link with those that hate judgement --- and the perversion of equity, with taking bribes, with polluting true religion, with building cities on blood and iniquity, and with destruction. In Micah 3:9-12 we read, "Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgement, and pervert all equity. They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, is not the Lord among us? None evil can come upon us. Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps,..."
Before more lives are destroyed and before our country is overturned, let us individually and as a country pray for wisdom that we may bring justice, based on truth, back to ourselves and our land. The Holy Bible declares "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."
